Draped bust of Balash to right, wearing an elaborate mural crown; before head, ‘hwkd wldʾš’ = ‘hukay Wardāš/Walāš’ (‘The good king, Balash’ in Pahlavi). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; head of Balash to right on the shaft; above altar, star and crescent; to right, ‘LYW’ (Abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Göbl type I/1. SNS III/2, type Ia/1a. Beautifully toned. Areas of weakness and with minor doubling and some deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
